A new trailer has been released for A Breed Apart, a reimagining of the 2006 film The Breed, originally produced by the legendary Wes Craven. This updated version, set for a theatrical release on May 16, 2025, will also be available on demand and digital platforms on the same day.
Directed by brothers Nathan and Griff Furst, A Breed Apart promises to deliver a fresh, terror-filled take on the original. The Furst brothers are no strangers to killer animal films, with Griff’s previous works including Trailer Park Shark, Swamp Shark, and Lake Placid 3. The duo also collaborated on Nightmare Shark in 2018.
The film’s plot revolves around Violet, played by Grace Caroline Currey, who accepts an invitation to a private island with popular social influencers. What starts as a viral opportunity quickly turns into a nightmare when the guests are forced to capture the island’s legendary, man-eating dogs in a twisted, deadly competition. The film is described as a “sequel of sorts,” following events from the original The Breed, though with a fresh storyline and a reworked title.
Joining Currey in the cast are Hayden Panettiere (Scream 4, Scream VI), Virginia Gardner (Fall), Page Kennedy (The Meg 2: The Trench), Joey Bragg (Liv and Maddie), Troy Gentile (The Goldbergs), and Riele Downs (Henry Danger). Kennedy plays Farmer John, a comic relief character, while Currey’s Violet is described as a “rebel icon” on a deadly mission.
The original The Breed followed a group of friends stranded on a remote island, where they are hunted by a pack of genetically modified, man-eating dogs. In the new version, the terror escalates as Violet and the others are forced to survive in the deadly game set by the island’s horrifying creatures.
Fans of the original film and new viewers alike can look forward to A Breed Apart this May, offering a wild mix of adrenaline, horror, and suspense.
