The newest trailer for Mission: Impossible – The Final Reckoning has arrived, offering fans a glimpse into what could be Ethan Hunt’s final adventure. Directed by Christopher McQuarrie, the film will be released on May 23, 2025, following its announcement six years ago that the seventh and eighth installments in the Mission: Impossible franchise would be filmed back-to-back.
The Final Reckoning picks up where Mission: Impossible – Dead Reckoning left off, with Ethan Hunt (Tom Cruise) on a mission to destroy a powerful AI system known as “The Entity,” which is hidden in a sunken Russian stealth submarine. McQuarrie, who also wrote the script with Erik Jendresen, returns as the director after previously working on Rogue Nation, Fallout, and Dead Reckoning.
The star-studded cast includes returning characters from past films, such as Hayley Atwell as Grace, a thief-turned-IMF recruit; Vanessa Kirby as Alanna Mitsopolis (The White Widow); and Ving Rhames as IMF agent Luther Stickell. The film will also see the return of Simon Pegg as Benji Dunn, Henry Czerny as CIA Director Eugene Kittridge, and several other key figures, including Esai Morales as the villainous Gabriel and Pom Klementieff as his ally, Paris.
New faces in the Mission: Impossible universe include Holt McCallany as Secretary of Defense Bernstein and Nick Offerman as Sydney, the Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff. The film also features a range of newcomers in unspecified roles.
The Mission: Impossible franchise has captivated audiences for years with its action-packed sequences and complex plot twists. As the final chapter of this thrilling saga unfolds, fans are eager to see how Ethan Hunt’s journey will conclude.
