New Trailer for Dag Johan Haugerud’s ‘Love’ Film Released

Strand Releasing has unveiled the official U.S. trailer for Love, a film by Norwegian filmmaker Dag Johan Haugerud. The film is part of The Oslo Trilogy, which also includes Sex and Dreams. Haugerud’s trilogy has been recognized for its exploration of intimate and societal themes. Love premiered at the 2024 Venice Film Festival and will hit select U.S. theaters on May 16, 2025.

The film focuses on Marianne, a straight-laced doctor, and Tor, a gay nurse, both of whom are avoiding traditional relationships. Set in an Oslo hospital, the two characters develop an unexpected bond, sharing their personal experiences and desires. Marianne opens up about wanting more adventurous connections with men, while Tor expresses his frustration with the fleeting nature of Grindr encounters. Their candid discussions explore themes of desire, emotional fulfillment, and questioning societal norms.

The film stars Andrea Bræin Hovig, Tayo Cittadella Jacobsen, Marte Engebrigtsen, Lars Jacob Holm, and Thomas Gullestad. Haugerud’s work is known for its emotional depth and honesty, and Love continues this tradition.

Love, originally titled Kjærlighet in Norwegian, is produced by Hege Hauff Hvattum and Yngve Sæther. It is part of Haugerud’s Oslo Trilogy, with Sex set for release on June 13, 2025, and Dreams on September 12, 2025.

Fans of intimate cinema can look forward to a heartfelt exploration of modern relationships in Love. The film’s debut at Film Forum in New York City marks the start of its U.S. release.
