A new horror film, Deathwoods, promises to deliver bloodshed and terror in the tradition of classic slasher films. Currently in post-production, the film’s teaser trailer was exclusively revealed today by Bloody Disgusting.
Deathwoods is a feature-length slasher film that blends modern horror with a retro grindhouse style. The film is a tribute to the iconic slasher movies of the 1980s, such as The Burning, Madman, and Pieces. The story is set in the woods surrounding Old Hickory, Tennessee, where a camping trip turns into a nightmare.
Plot
The film follows Scott, a man struggling with depression after a breakup. His friends, Kyle and Jessica, plan a camping trip to help him move on, setting him up with Jessica’s friend, Michelle. However, their well-meaning weekend quickly takes a deadly turn as they are stalked by an urban legend haunting the forest. The legend centers on the Wallace family, whose tragic history has turned into terrifying folklore about a monstrous child that roams the woods.
Behind the Scenes
Deathwoods is written and executive produced by Scott Conner. Co-directed by Jake Kopronica and Deryk Wehrley, the film features a talented team both behind and in front of the camera. Kopronica, who also co-wrote and stars in the film, brings his experience from past works like Purgatory Station and Int. Hallway/Night. Wehrley, known for his work on Crust and Zombieland: Double Tap, is responsible for the film’s gruesome special effects.
The movie also stars horror icon Felissa Rose (Sleepaway Camp, Terrifier 2) and LC Holt (You’re Next, VHS 2), along with indie horror stars KateLynn E. Newberry, Jessa Jupiter Flux, and Miles Dimitri Baker from the band Ice Nine Kills.
With Deathwoods, the team aims to capture the blood-soaked thrill of classic slasher films, delivering both intense horror and homage to the genre’s golden age. Keep an eye out for its release date as the film moves through post-production.
