The rapper, known by his real name Curtis Jackson, allegedly injured a fan in the audience by hurling a microphone into the crowd. While the incident was captured on video by attendees, conflicting reports have emerged regarding the intentions behind the act and the severity of the alleged injury.
As 50 Cent took the stage at the Crypto.com Arena, frustration seemed to overshadow the performance. The rapper had reportedly been handed two defective microphones in a row, leading to his outburst. Fan-recorded footage shows him tossing one of the microphones into the audience, and it is claimed that it struck the victim, who was in the production area near the stage.
TMZ obtained images from the alleged victim, identified as Bryhana Monegain, a radio host at Power 106. She displayed a laceration on her forehead, indicating a physical impact. Subsequently, additional photographs circulated on The Neighborhood Talk’s Instagram account, further documenting her wound.
Reports suggest that Monegain filed a report with the Los Angeles Police Department in response to the incident. However, law enforcement authorities have not confirmed the filing at this time.
A source close to the situation described the incident as an unfortunate and isolated occurrence, attributing it to an individual being in a restricted area where they should not have been.
Scott Leemon, 50 Cent’s attorney, vehemently denied any intention to harm by stating, “Let’s be very clear, as I told LAPD this afternoon, my client Curtis would never intentionally strike anyone with a microphone. Anyone saying something different doesn’t have all the facts and is misinformed.” Leemon maintains that the facts surrounding the incident will vindicate his client from any culpability.
As of now, neither Bryhana Monegain nor Power 106 has responded to requests for comment on the matter.
The incident has cast a shadow over 50 Cent’s ongoing Final Lap Tour, which commemorates the 20th anniversary of his debut studio album, “Get Rich or Die Tryin’.” Initially launched in Salt Lake City last month, the international tour is set to conclude in Birmingham, England, in November.
