The Chainsmokers recently took a daring artistic approach for the cover art of their upcoming fifth studio album, only to have it met with rejection. The electronic duo, comprised of Alexander Pall and Andrew Taggart, unveiled the scrapped cover art for their single “Summertime Friends,” which drew direct inspiration from the sultry Calvin Klein photoshoot of Justin and Hailey Bieber.
In a social media post, Pall and Taggart shared their disappointment, stating, “‘Summertime Friends’ was supposed to have this as the cover art, but it turned out to be utterly ridiculous. We are incredibly upset and will be immediately parting ways with our creative director. Regaining trust in our team seems like an insurmountable task.”
Having last released their fourth studio album, “So Far So Good,” in May 2022, the duo unveiled “Summertime Friends” during their inaugural “Party Never Ends” show in Los Angeles. Their upcoming performances will take them to Las Vegas on Sept. 9, followed by stops in Mountain View, Calif., and Aspen, Colo.
Pall and Taggart captured attention earlier this year when they candidly admitted to engaging in threesomes with fans, attributing these experiences to the confinements of European beds. Pall elaborated on the Call Her Daddy podcast, stating, “It was during a time when we had to share hotel rooms. In Europe, they provide a single room with two beds, which are not even separated. So, we were inadvertently thrust into these situations.”
Notably, he clarified that these encounters were never planned, admitting, “It’s certainly an unusual circumstance. I won’t deny that.”
