In a strategic move befitting her mastermind reputation, Taylor Swift is turning the spotlight on her fans for her upcoming birthday. The pop sensation announced on Monday that her highly acclaimed Taylor Swift: The Eras Tour concert film will be available for rent on Video On Demand (VOD) starting December 13. What’s more, Swift aficionados will be treated to an extended version of the film, featuring three bonus songs that were initially omitted from the theatrical release.

In a social media announcement, Swift expressed her excitement, saying, “Very happy to be able to tell you that the extended version of the film, including ‘Wildest Dreams,’ ‘The Archer,’ and ‘Long Live,’ will be available to rent on demand in the US, Canada & additional countries to be announced soon starting on … you guessed it, December 13.”

The omission of certain songs from the original setlist drew attention and curiosity from Swift’s dedicated fanbase when the movie premiered in October. However, astute followers of Swift’s intricate puzzles correctly anticipated that the concert film, already an impressive 2 hours and 45 minutes long, would be expanded for home viewing. Notably, not all cut songs will be featured in the extended version, with “Cardigan” and “No Body No Crime” absent from the lineup.

The news of the home release follows two months after the initial debut of the concert film in theaters and comes on the heels of Swift’s concluding 2023 dates for her global Eras Tour. Having wrapped up her final show in Sao Paulo, Brazil, on Sunday night, Swift is set to grace the stage once again on February 7 in Tokyo.

While fans eagerly await the opportunity to belt out Swift’s hits in the comfort of their living rooms, the Eras Tour concert film has already made history by surpassing the $100 million mark domestically, reaching over $165 million in North America and a staggering $231 million globally. And this remarkable achievement was accomplished without the inclusion of “Wildest Dreams,” making the extended version an even more enticing gift for Swift enthusiasts.
