In a surprising turn of events, Aerosmith, the legendary Rock and Roll Hall of Fame band, has been forced to hit the brakes on their much-anticipated farewell tour. The unexpected hurdle comes in the form of frontman Steven Tyler’s vocal cord injury, leaving fans and band members alike disappointed.
Tyler, in a now-deleted social media statement, revealed the heartbreaking news, stating, “I’m heartbroken to say I have received strict doctor’s orders not to sing for the next thirty days.” The injury occurred during a performance over the weekend, leading to vocal cord damage and subsequent bleeding.
The band, known for hits like “Sweet Emotion,” “Walk This Way,” and “I Don’t Want to Miss A Thing,” has decided to postpone six shows on their ongoing Peace Out tour. These concerts, initially slated for this year, have been rescheduled for January and February of the following year to allow Tyler sufficient time to heal.
“I sustained vocal cord damage during Saturday’s show that led to subsequent bleeding. We’ll need to postpone a few dates so that we can come back and give you the performance you deserve,” Tyler explained.
The rescheduled dates include Detroit on Jan. 29, Chicago on Feb. 14, Washington, D.C. on Feb. 17, Toronto on Feb. 21, Raleigh on Feb. 26, and Cleveland on Feb. 29. The band assures fans that previously purchased tickets will remain valid for the new dates. Refunds will also be made available for those unable to attend the rescheduled shows.
Aerosmith kicked off their Peace Out tour with a bang at the Wells Fargo Center in Philadelphia on Sept. 2. The tour promised a nostalgic journey through the band’s greatest hits, marking the culmination of their illustrious career. The Grammy-winning group, consisting of Tyler, Joe Perry, Tom Hamilton, and Brad Whitford, initially announced the farewell tour in May, proclaiming, “It’s not goodbye, it’s PEACE OUT!”
While fans may have to wait a bit longer for the grand finale, Aerosmith remains committed to delivering an unforgettable performance when they return to the stage next year. As Tyler heals and the band regroups, the anticipation for the final shows of this iconic tour is sure to build, promising a spectacular farewell to one of rock’s most enduring legends.
