Sony Pictures has released the highly anticipated first official trailer for “Venom: The Last Dance,” the concluding chapter in the trilogy featuring Tom Hardy as the formidable anti-hero, Venom. As one of Spider-Man’s most iconic adversaries, Venom has captivated audiences, and this installment promises an exhilarating finale. Notably, the character also played a significant role as the main antagonist in last year’s acclaimed “Spider-Man 2” video game.
In the newly released trailer, Eddie Brock and his symbiotic partner Venom are seen fleeing from their pursuers. Complicating their escape, Venom’s original world has tracked them down, heightening the stakes for the duo.
The film incorporates a crossover of sorts with Apple TV+’s hit series “Ted Lasso,” featuring cast members Cristo Fernández and Juno Temple. Fernández, who made a cameo in the end credits of “Spider-Man: No Way Home,” appears in the trailer alongside Chiwetel Ejiofor’s character, raising questions about potential character variants across the Spider-Man and Venom universes.
The first two “Venom” films have been major successes for Sony, collectively grossing over $1.3 billion worldwide. However, “Venom: The Last Dance” will be Tom Hardy’s final portrayal of the symbiote.
Reflecting on his journey with the franchise, Hardy shared with Forbes, “I think you got to swing for the fences with these things. It’s the last one and we want to go out with a bang, and lay the foundations for optionality and possibilities because it’s been such a great ride. I’ve thoroughly enjoyed working within that field and remit of a big film with big ideas, and a lot of people looking to you to back that up.”
