Dune: Part Two Tops Blu-ray And Overall Packaged Media Charts For Third Week

by Barbara

Warner Bros. Home Entertainment’s Dune: Part Two continues to dominate the Blu-ray-only and overall packaged media charts for the week ending June 1st. This marks the third consecutive week the film has held the top position. Following the success of its 2021 predecessor, Dune: Part One, which paved the way for the sequel, Dune: Part Two faced its own set of challenges, including delays due to the SAG-AFTRA and WGA strikes in 2023, pushing its release from November 2023 to March 2024. Despite these obstacles, the film has been a critical and commercial success, grossing over $282 million domestically and $711 million worldwide, making it the highest-grossing film of 2024 to date. This week, Dune: Part Two had an HD share of 68%, with 28% of its units sold in the 4K UHD format.

Kung Fu Panda 4 Debuts in Second Place

Universal Pictures Home Entertainment’s Kung Fu Panda 4 made a strong debut, securing the second spot on the Blu-ray-only chart. The latest installment in the DreamWorks Animation series premiered in March 2024 to positive reviews and strong box office performance, earning over $57 million in its opening weekend, the best for a DreamWorks animated film since 2012’s Madagascar 3: Europe’s Most Wanted. The film has since grossed over $193 million domestically and $543 million worldwide, on a modest budget of $85 million. This week, Kung Fu Panda 4 sold 28% as many Blu-ray units as Dune: Part Two, with an HD share of 60% and 19% of units sold in the 4K UHD format.

The film has grossed over $96 million domestically and $179 million worldwide. This week, Bob Marley: One Love sold 18% as many Blu-ray units as Dune: Part Two, with an HD share of 51% and 22% of units sold in the 4K UHD format.
