Marvel’s Spider-Man 2 is slated for a significant update on June 18, featuring a variety of new suits for players to enjoy. Insomniac’s senior community manager, Aaron Jason Espinoza, announced on the PlayStation Blog that the PlayStation 5 exclusive will receive eight new suits with the release of patch 1.003.000. This update includes both fresh designs and beloved suits from previous games.
In addition to the new suits, the update addresses community feedback and enhances the game’s stability. One notable improvement is the ability to switch between the Symbiote and Spider Arms for parry and traversal abilities, providing more flexibility in gameplay.
Among the new suits, four were created in collaboration with notable figures such as Colm Dillane (KidSuper), Brazilian footballer Vini Jr, Formula 1 driver Lando Norris, and musician Rina Sawayama. Vini Jr, a forward for Real Madrid, co-developed the Ginga Suit for Miles Morales and shared his enthusiasm for the design:
“I wanted it to be a celebration of Brazil’s culture and people. I just love the overall design because it has the energy and action that I associate Spider-Man with, but it’s beautifully mixed with some Brazilian flair, which makes this suit super special and different from others.”
The update also brings back four fan-favorite suits from Insomniac’s Marvel’s Spider-Man and Marvel’s Spider-Man: Miles Morales, which have been “retrofitted” for Marvel’s Spider-Man 2. These include the Into The Spider-Verse suit for Peter Parker and Miles Morales’ Animated suit. Players can view these suits in the slideshow of images released.
Previously, a March update for Spider-Man 2 unintentionally revealed a potential upcoming expansion. After patch 1.002.000, which introduced New Game+ and new suits, players discovered access to a development game menu that unlocked various settings. Insomniac warned players that using this menu could result in corrupted save data and affect trophy progress.
As excitement builds for the June 18 update, players can look forward to enhanced gameplay and the addition of visually stunning suits that reflect diverse cultural influences.
