In the latest installment of Spider-Gwen: The Ghost Spider, issue #2, Gwen Stacy finds herself in a precarious position after a life-threatening encounter with Kraven the Hunter. Awakening under the care of fellow Spiders Miles Morales, Peter Parker, and Cindy Moon, Gwen is confronted with the consequences of her clandestine relocation to Earth-616. Despite their support, Gwen struggles to divulge the reasons behind her secretive move and her reluctance to embrace her new reality.
Originally introduced in 2014’s Edge of Spider-Verse #2, Gwen Stacy of Earth-65 gained fame as Spider-Gwen, endowed with powers after a spider bite similar to her counterpart, Peter Parker. Her journey has seen her adopt various aliases, including Spider-Woman and Ghost-Spider, as she navigated Multiversal challenges, such as confronting her world’s Doctor Octopus and battling a symbiotic Carnage.
Following a rescue by the Time Variance Authority’s Ouroboros, Gwen was transplanted to Earth-616, where she grapples with assuming a false identity and living up to the legacy of her predecessor. This transition has not been without its difficulties, leaving Gwen torn between her past and present as she adjusts to a new chapter in her superheroic journey.
