Why Venom is not in Avengers?

by Barbara

Venom is a popular Marvel Comics character who has gained a massive fan following over the years. Ever since the Venom movie was released in 2018, fans have been wondering if we would ever see the iconic character alongside the Avengers in the Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU). However, as of now, there are no plans to bring Venom into the MCU. In this article, we will explore the reasons why.

Firstly, it is important to understand that Venom is not originally an Avenger. Unlike other characters such as Spider-Man or Iron Man, Venom has never been a part of the Avengers team in the comics. In fact, he is primarily associated with Spider-Man, who himself has only recently become a part of the MCU. Therefore, the lack of Venom in the MCU can be attributed to the fact that he simply does not fit into the existing Avengers storyline.

Secondly, even though both Venom and Spider-Man exist within the same universe, the rights to these characters are owned by different studios. Sony Pictures owns the film rights to the Spider-Man franchise, including characters like Venom, while Marvel Studios owns the rights to the Avengers and the larger MCU. This division of rights makes it difficult for Venom to appear in the MCU because it would require complicated negotiations between the two studios, something that has proven challenging in the past.

Thirdly, bringing Venom into the MCU might also present some creative challenges. The current iteration of the MCU has been built on establishing well-defined characters and storylines that are interconnected through a shared universe. Introducing a character like Venom, with his darker and more violent nature, might disrupt this delicate balance and tone down the overall family-friendly approach that Marvel Studios has taken so far.

Lastly, it is worth noting that the Venom character has already been established in his own separate cinematic universe. The success of the Venom movie has already spawned a sequel, and there are plans for further spin-offs featuring other Spider-Man villains like Morbius. This means that Sony Pictures is invested in building its own cinematic universe around these characters, and it is unlikely that they would want to share them with Marvel Studios.

In conclusion, while it would certainly be exciting for fans to see Venom and the Avengers team up on the big screen, the various factors discussed above make it unlikely to happen anytime soon. The division of rights between the studios, creative challenges, and the fact that Venom already has his own established movie franchise all play a role in keeping the character separate from the larger MCU. However, given the constantly evolving nature of the entertainment industry, one can never say never when it comes to the possibility of seeing Venom and the Avengers together in the future.
