Will Deadpool get his face back?

by Barbara

Deadpool, the irreverent and foul-mouthed anti-hero played by Ryan Reynolds, has become one of the most popular characters in the Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU). His appearance is just as distinctive as his personality, with a disfigured face that’s become an integral part of his identity.

Firstly, it’s important to note that Deadpool’s disfigured face is a central aspect of his character in the comics. His appearance is the result of an experimental procedure meant to cure him of cancer, which instead left him with a healing factor but severe scarring all over his body.

In the first Deadpool film, this origin story was adapted for the big screen, with Wade Wilson’s face being scarred as a result of the same experimental procedure. While some fans have expressed a desire to see Deadpool regain his original appearance, it seems unlikely given the importance of his disfigurement to the character.

Additionally, Deadpool’s disfigurement has become an iconic part of his look and marketing, with merchandise featuring his scarred face being hugely popular among fans. It’s possible that altering his appearance could negatively impact the character’s overall appeal and recognition.

However, there have been storylines throughout Deadpool’s comic book history that have explored the possibility of his face being restored to its former glory.

The most famous example of this storyline is the “Deadpool: Dead” arc, which was written by Joe Kelly and illustrated by Ed McGuinness. In this storyline, Deadpool finds himself cursed with immortality and unable to die. As he searches for a way to end his suffering, he discovers that one of the scientists responsible for his condition may hold the key to restoring his face.

Ultimately, Deadpool is successful in regaining his original appearance, but not before facing off against a number of enemies who want to prevent him from achieving his goal. The storyline is a classic example of the over-the-top action and irreverent humor that has made Deadpool such a beloved character among fans.

However, it’s worth noting that the events of the “Deadpool: Dead” storyline are not necessarily considered canon within the broader Marvel universe. While the storyline is certainly popular and well-regarded among fans, it exists outside of the continuity established by other comics featuring the character.

In more recent years, there have been other storylines that have explored the idea of Deadpool potentially regaining his original appearance. For example, in the miniseries “Deadpool Kills Deadpool,” the character is shown wearing a new mask that covers his disfigured face. While this doesn’t necessarily address the question of whether his face could be restored, it does suggest that the character may be seeking ways to conceal his appearance.

So, will Deadpool ever get his face back? It’s hard to say for certain, as the character’s comic book history is filled with so many twists and turns. However, it’s clear that the idea of restoring his original appearance is one that has captured the imaginations of fans and writers alike. Whether or not it ever happens, one thing is for sure: Deadpool’s disfigured face is as much a part of his identity as his trademark red suit and wry sense of humor.
