The largest multi-day outdoor music festival in Atlantic Canada, the Cavendish Beach Music Festival, has begun amidst a forecast of rain, drawing enthusiastic music lovers from across the country to the usually serene Cavendish Beach.
Events commenced on Friday with smooth operations, as noted by festival coordinator Ben Murphy. Despite minor hitches, Murphy expressed satisfaction with the day’s proceedings.
Each year, the festival attracts top names in country music, and this year is no exception with over 50 acts scheduled. Headliners include Brothers Osborne, who performed on Friday, Tyler Childers scheduled for Saturday, and Zac Brown Band set to close on Sunday.
Among the performers on Friday was Mackenzie Porter, who also hosts this year’s Canadian Country Music Awards. Porter, recalling her past involvement in the festival, emphasized its special place in her heart: “Literally, this is my favourite festival” .
This year, the festival has introduced several enhancements aimed at improving the attendee experience. Key changes include a dedicated festival app for easier navigation and a new bracelet ticket system that doubles as a payment method throughout the event. According to Murphy, “The bracelets allow for seamless transactions – attach your credit card and you’re all set for the weekend.”
Despite uncertain weather conditions, organizers are committed to proceeding rain or shine. Murphy humorously remarked, “I don’t even know if it’s worth a rain jacket, so we’ll see, and rain always brings a good time too.”
The Cavendish Beach Music Festival 2024 promises a weekend filled with music, despite the weather challenges, as it continues to delight fans with its lineup and innovations in festival logistics.
