Pat Colbert, renowned for her role as Dora Mae in the television series “Dallas,” has died at the age of 77. Colbert passed away on June 23 at her residence in Compton, following a series of strokes over the past decade.
Colbert made her television debut in 1979, appearing in “Eischiled” as a model alongside Joe Don Baker. She later gained prominence in shows like “Flamingo Road,” where she starred alongside John Beck, Woody Brown, Peter Donat, Howard Duff, Morgan Fairchild, and Barbara Rush. Throughout the 1980s, Colbert continued to make notable appearances in series such as “Benson,” “The Fall Guy,” “Knots Landing,” and “A Death in California.”
In addition to her television work, Colbert played a pivotal role in CBS’s “Capitol,” portraying the character Cora Mullens in the political drama set in Washington, D.C. Her most enduring role came in “Dallas,” where she joined the cast in Season 7 (1983) as Dora Mae, the esteemed host and manager of the Oil Baron’s Club, remaining with the series until its conclusion in 1991.
Following her time on “Dallas,” Colbert appeared in episodes of “Sisters” and “True Colors” in 1991. She also made appearances in notable films such as 1981’s “S.O.B.,” where she played The Nurse, and the 1982 comedy “Hysterical,” portraying a memorable character as a hooker.
Colbert’s film career further included roles opposite Bill Cosby in the 1987 film “Leonard Part 6,” where she played Allison Parker, the wife of Cosby’s character. Later in her career, she appeared in films like “Thom & Dusty Go to Mexico: The Lost Treasure” (2014) and “If Not for His Grace” (2015).
A funeral service to honor Colbert’s life is scheduled for July 20.
