Renowned African American singer Mary Millben is set to perform the US national anthem before Donald Trump’s acceptance speech as the Republican Party’s presidential candidate on Thursday. Millben, known as America’s “National Anthem Singer,” has a distinguished history of performances for four consecutive US Presidents, including George W. Bush, Barack Obama, Donald Trump, and Joe Biden, as well as international royalty and world leaders such as Prime Minister Narendra Modi.
Amid the recent assassination attempt on Trump, Millben expressed her admiration for his strength and resilience, referring to him as her friend. “The moment God protected President Trump’s life in Pennsylvania is clear. The moment I have been given to set a tone of unity before President Trump accepts his nomination as the 47th President is clear. And the moment we are facing now to unite as Americans, is clear,” she remarked.
Millben emphasized the national anthem’s role in uniting Americans regardless of political affiliations. She called for a return to civility in the democratic process and expressed hope that her performance would inspire love for God, country, President Trump, and one another.
The singer has a notable history with President Trump, having performed at his 58th Presidential inauguration victory celebration and the Republican National Committee Convention in 2020. Millben has been invited to perform by the Donald Trump Campaign, the Republican National Committee, and the Republican National Convention’s Committee on arrangements.
This performance underscores Millben’s commitment to patriotic unity and her longstanding contribution to American political ceremonies.
