Dickinson County’s annual “Music Under the Stars” concert concluded on a poignant note as a vibrant rainbow graced the sky, providing a fitting finale to the Dickinson County Community Chorus’s homage to the late Tony Bennett through their rendition of The Great American Songbook.
The event, held at Lake Antoine Park’s band shell, deeply moved attendees, especially during the heartfelt performance by the children’s choir. Their rendition of the patriotic anthem “Let Freedom Ring” resonated with the crowd, enhancing the evening’s emotional ambiance.
Principal Conductor Crystal Hogan curated a program centered around the theme of Alzheimer’s disease, reflecting on its profound impact. Hogan, driven by her personal experience of losing a sister to the disease, crafted a repertoire spanning gospel, jazz, patriotic tunes, and Broadway classics. Beyond entertainment, the concert aimed to instill hope and solidarity among those affected by Alzheimer’s within the community.
