Tragic Plane Crash Claims Lives of Gospel Music Family Members

by Barbara

Three members of The Nelons, a cherished Gospel music family, tragically lost their lives on Friday in a plane crash while en route to the Gaither Homecoming Cruise in Alaska. Jason Clark, Kelly Nelon Clark, and their daughter Amber Nelon Kistler, along with Amber’s husband Nathan Kistler, their assistant Melodi Hodges, and the pilot Larry Haynie and his wife Melissa, perished in the incident.

The crash occurred in Campbell County, Wyoming, where officials reported receiving word of a single-engine Pilatus PC-12/47E plane crashing around 1:00 p.m. local time, causing a wildland fire near the remote crash site. Reports suggest an auto-pilot issue may have contributed to the tragedy.

Kelly and Jason’s youngest daughter, Autumn Nelon Streetman, and her husband, who had taken a different flight, learned of the crash upon arriving in Seattle, the departure point for the cruise. Autumn, who resides in Middle Tennessee, expressed gratitude for the outpouring of prayers and support.
