The tranquil ambiance of Medford Memorial Park resonated with melodies on Sunday as the local community congregated for the second annual Feel the Music fundraiser concert, a heartfelt event dedicated to supporting St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital.
Organized by Cathy LoSchiavo, the “concert extravaganza” featured 16 bands from Long Island, each generously donating their time and talent in aid of the cause. Among them was Masque, a burgeoning band whose journey from the Rock Underground of Patchogue to the Medford stage marked a significant milestone in their young career.
“This is a really important gig for me. This is our first major outing,” expressed Coleman Blackler, lead singer of Masque, reflecting on the band’s debut performance. For Masque, the event represented more than a musical achievement; it was an opportunity to contribute meaningfully to a cause close to their hearts.
“I know several people who suffered from childhood cancer,” Blackler shared, highlighting his personal connection to the fundraiser. “It’s really rough and it’s scary.”
The atmosphere at the park was vibrant, with attendees showing overwhelming support and creating lasting memories for both the community and the aspiring musicians of Masque.
“This is so exciting and, of course, I’m a little bit nervous but more than anything, I am just super excited,” band member Claudia Koronkiewicz expressed enthusiastically.
Looking ahead, LoSchiavo affirmed her commitment to continuing the annual Feel the Music concert, ensuring that future editions will continue to unite the power of music and the generosity of the community in the fight against childhood cancer.
The Feel the Music fundraiser not only raised significant funds for St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital but also underscored the collective impact that music and community spirit can achieve in making a difference.
