Disney and Marvel Studios have recently revised their release schedule for upcoming Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU) films, including title changes and adjusted release dates.
The highly anticipated film “Avengers: Doomsday” is now slated for release on May 1, 2026, with a new logo showcasing the date in green metallic text on a black background. This film will be followed by “Thunderbolts,”* originally set for release on July 25, 2025, but now rescheduled for May 2, 2025. The asterisk remains a distinctive part of the film’s title.
“The Fantastic Four: First Steps” is set to kick off Phase Six of the MCU on July 25, 2025, according to the updated schedule. This film will follow “Captain America: Brave New World,” which is scheduled to premiere on February 14, 2025. “Thunderbolts”* will conclude Phase Five, while “The Fantastic Four: First Steps” will usher in Phase Six.
Despite losing two directors, the film “Blade,” starring Mahershala Ali in the titular role, remains on track for a November 7, 2025 release. Originally announced at San Diego Comic-Con in 2019, “Blade” was initially scheduled for September 6, 2024, but faced delays to February 2025 and then to November 2025.
In line with Disney CEO Bob Iger’s recent statements about scaling back on output to enhance quality, Marvel Studios has removed an untitled film from its schedule, which was previously set for July 24, 2026.
However, two untitled films have been scheduled for February 13, 2026, and November 6, 2026. These films will be part of Phase Six and will be positioned between “Blade” and “Avengers: Doomsday.” Additionally, announced films that currently lack specific release dates include “Armor Wars,” “Spider-Man 4,” and “Shang-Chi 2.”
The final confirmed release on the updated schedule is “Avengers: Secret Wars” on May 7, 2027. The Russo brothers are set to direct both “Avengers: Secret Wars” and “Avengers: Doomsday.”
