‘Batman’ To Be Released Before ‘ The Penguin’ Premieres

Warner Bros. Pictures has announced a special one-night re-release of Matt Reeves’ critically acclaimed film The Batman, scheduled for Wednesday, August 28, 2024. This exclusive event, in collaboration with AMC Theatres and Dolby, is set to celebrate the upcoming HBO Original series The Penguin, which premieres on September 19, 2024.

The event will allow fans to revisit The Batman on the big screen and enjoy a unique behind-the-scenes preview of The Penguin. This sneak peek will include insights from Colin Farrell, who stars in the series, along with executive producers Matt Reeves, Dylan Clark, Lauren LeFranc, and Craig Zobel, who directed the first three episodes of the show.

Jeff Goldstein, President of Domestic Distribution, and Andrew Cripps, President of International Distribution at Warner Bros. Pictures, expressed their enthusiasm for the event. “The Batman was a massive hit around the world when we released it in 2022, and we’re excited to bring it back to theatres in partnership with our friends at AMC and Dolby,” they said.

Originally released in 2022, The Batman was both a critical and commercial success, grossing over $772 million worldwide. Colin Farrell’s portrayal of Oz/The Penguin was particularly well-received, leading to the development of the HBO Original series The Penguin. The series, produced by Warner Bros. Television and DC Studios, consists of eight episodes.

The re-release of The Batman will be featured in 100 Dolby Cinema® screens at AMC locations across the U.S., with additional screenings in Dolby Cinema and Dolby Atmos® theatres in the UK, France, Spain, Saudi Arabia, Sweden, and South Korea. Attendees will also receive a limited-edition mini-poster with exclusive new artwork, available while supplies last.

As the debut of The Penguin approaches, this special screening offers fans a chance to return to Gotham City and immerse themselves once more in the dark and gripping world created by Matt Reeves.
