Grammy Award-winning artist Melissa Etheridge will headline this year’s Women Who Rock benefit concert, presented by Gibson Gives. The event is scheduled to take place on August 28 in Pittsburgh and will showcase an all-female-fronted lineup of musical acts. Proceeds from the concert will support critical women’s health research.
In a statement, Etheridge emphasized the significance of the event, saying, “The Women Who Rock benefit concert is all about raising funds for life-saving women’s health research, which is often underfunded and understudied. Having faced my own health challenges 20 years ago, I am still cancer-free today, and I understand the importance of dedicated research in women’s health.”
The funds raised will be directed to the Magee-Womens Research Institute, the largest research institute in the country dedicated solely to women’s health research and reproductive biology.
For those unable to attend the concert, there is still an opportunity to contribute. From now until August 28, fans can place bids on a Gibson 1968 Les Paul Custom guitar, autographed by Etheridge, through CharityBuzz.com.
