Marvel’s “Thunderbolts” Trailer Leaks Ahead of May 2025 Release

by Barbara

Marvel Studios’ highly anticipated film Thunderbolts has generated significant buzz with its recent trailer, which leaked online following its debut at San Diego Comic-Con (SDCC) last month. The trailer, which has been circulating on Twitter in a low-quality phone recording, offers an early glimpse into Marvel’s version of The Suicide Squad, featuring an ensemble of characters from previous films and Disney+ series.

Set to premiere in theaters on May 2, 2025, Thunderbolts stars David Harbour, Hannah John-Kamen, Julia Louis-Dreyfus, Sebastian Stan, Wyatt Russell, Olga Kurylenko, and Florence Pugh. The film promises to bring together a mix of established Marvel characters and lesser-known figures from the Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU).

In the leaked trailer, audiences can see Florence Pugh’s Yelena Belova (Black Widow) reuniting with David Harbour’s Alexei Shostakov (Red Guardian). Harbour, who has previously described the film as a narrative centered around Marvel’s “villains and losers,” hints at a story driven by complex character dynamics. The trailer also showcases Yelena engaged in a conflict with Wyatt Russell’s John Walker (U.S. Agent) and several enigmatic masked adversaries.

Noteworthy appearances include Lewis Pullman as Robert “Bob” Reynolds, aka Sentry, who appears disoriented, implying he may be unaware of his formidable powers. The trailer also features Sebastian Stan’s Bucky Barnes (The Winter Soldier), Julia Louis-Dreyfus reprising her role as Valentina Allegra de Fontaine, and Hannah John-Kamen as Ava Starr (Ghost), a character from Ant-Man and the Wasp.

The early reception of the trailer has been largely positive, a promising sign for Disney and Marvel following a series of underwhelming releases. The film’s action sequences, espionage elements, and David Harbour’s comedic touch are expected to resonate well with audiences. With Pugh’s Black Widow positioned as the central character, the film aims to leverage her popularity while incorporating significant screen time for U.S. Agent and Bucky.

Before Thunderbolts hits theaters, Marvel fans can look forward to Captain America: Brave New World, slated for release in February 2025, which will also feature Harrison Ford as Red Hulk. Additionally, Disney+ will debut Agatha: Darkhold Diaries ahead of Thunderbolts, a show that has garnered unexpected enthusiasm following its initial trailer.

As the MCU continues to expand, Thunderbolts is set to be a key release in Marvel’s upcoming slate, building anticipation with its intriguing mix of characters and storyline.
