Amar Kaushik’s latest horror-comedy, Stree 2, continues to perform robustly at the Indian box office, reaching new heights on its fourth day of release. Starring Rajkummar Rao and Shraddha Kapoor, the film has amassed an estimated ₹55 crore nett on Sunday, marking its second-highest single-day collection to date.
The film, a sequel to the 2018 hit Stree, has accumulated an impressive total of ₹190.55 crore nett in just four days. On Sunday, Stree 2 enjoyed a 70.41% occupancy rate in Hindi-speaking regions, with Bengaluru leading the way with an 84% turnout.
Directed by Amar Kaushik, Stree 2 hit theaters on August 15, coinciding with Independence Day celebrations. The sequel continues the story of the original Stree, introducing a new spectral antagonist known as Sarkata, a ghost with only a head.
The film also features performances by Abhishek Banerjee, Pankaj Tripathi, and Aparshakti Khurana. At the end of its first three days, the production house reported a net domestic collection of ₹145.8 crore. The film’s success has been lauded by its producers, who celebrated the achievement on social media.
Actress Kangana Ranaut recently praised Stree 2 and its director Amar Kaushik. In a heartfelt social media post, Ranaut commended the film’s record-breaking success and highlighted the crucial role of directors in the industry. She urged audiences to recognize and appreciate the work of directors, emphasizing their vital contribution to the film’s success.
Stree 2 is part of Dinesh Vijan’s expanding horror-comedy universe, which includes other popular titles such as Bhediya and Munjya. The film’s strong performance at the box office underscores its appeal and sets a high bar for its contemporaries.
