Renowned filmmaker Tim Burton will receive a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame next month, the Hollywood Chamber of Commerce announced on Monday. The ceremony will take place on September 3 at 11:30 a.m. PT, at 6600 Hollywood Boulevard, in front of Hollywood Toys & Costume.
Burton, celebrated for his imaginative approach to filmmaking, will be honored in the Motion Pictures category. The event will feature remarks from notable actors Winona Ryder and Michael Keaton, who have collaborated with Burton on several projects.
Born in Burbank, California, Burton’s cinematic journey began with “Pee-wee’s Big Adventure” in 1985. His career includes iconic films such as “Beetlejuice” (1988), “Batman” (1989), “Batman Returns” (1992), the beloved “Tim Burton’s The Nightmare Before Christmas” (1993), “Edward Scissorhands” (1990), “Corpse Bride” (2005), and “Frankenweenie” (2012), among others.
His latest project, “Beetlejuice Beetlejuice,” a sequel to the 1988 classic, is set to be released in theaters on September 6. The film stars Jenna Ortega, known for her role in “Wednesday,” alongside Ryder and Keaton.
Burton’s early years in the San Fernando Valley were marked by a fascination with cartoons and Vincent Price horror films, influenced by his mother, who owned a cat-themed gift shop, and his father, who worked for the Burbank Parks and Recreation Department. Burton’s artistic talents were first recognized in ninth grade when a sanitation company featured one of his designs on an anti-litter poster. After high school, he pursued his education at the California Institute of the Arts and began his career as an animator for Disney.
