Supergroup to Showcase Genre-Spanning Music at RNCM This September

by Barbara

A unique supergroup blending Mediterranean folk, chamber music, improvisation, and acoustic jazz is set to perform at the Royal Northern College of Music (RNCM) this September. The acclaimed ensemble features singer, violinist, and songwriter Alice Zawadzki; multi-instrumentalist, composer, and producer Fred Thomas; and jazz bassist and composer Misha Mullov-Abbado. Their performance will share diverse stories and soundscapes inspired by their global travels.

The trio is gearing up to release their highly anticipated debut album, Za Górami, produced by ECM Records founder Manfred Eicher, on Friday, September 13. This release precedes their RNCM concert by just two weeks.

In a statement about their album, the group remarked, “These songs, learned and loved during our travels and taught by friends, reflect our diverse musical and cultural backgrounds from Europe, Russia, and South America. Born in England by a twist of fate, our narratives touch on themes of love, war, exile, and the arbitrary nature of borders.”
