The BFI London Film Festival will showcase the European premiere of the documentary “Elton John: Never Too Late,” directed by RJ Cutler and David Furnish. The film reflects on Elton John’s illustrious career and his preparations for his final North American concert at Dodger Stadium, Los Angeles.
The 77-year-old music icon, alongside the directors, will attend the screening at the Royal Festival Hall in Southbank Centre on October 10. Kristy Matheson, director of the BFI London Film Festival, praised the documentary for its intimacy and excitement, stating, “Directors RJ Cutler and David Furnish bring a great intimacy and exhilaration to the story of one of the world’s most accomplished and beloved musicians.”
Elton John, honored as a member of the Order of the Companions of Honour in 2021, is celebrated for hits such as “I’m Still Standing,” “Candle In The Wind,” and “Goodbye Yellow Brick Road.” In 2019, Taron Egerton portrayed him in the biopic “Rocketman.”
The festival, running from October 9 to October 20, will also open with the world premiere of Steve McQueen’s “Blitz,” featuring Saoirse Ronan.
