A newly released English-subtitled trailer for the upcoming anime film COLORFUL STAGE The Movie: A Miku Who Can’t Sing has generated buzz, hinting at a global release soon. The film, which is slated to premiere in Japan on January 17, 2025, is being animated by Studio P.A. Works under the direction of Hiroyuki Hata.
The movie, an original work not previously featured in the Project Sekai game, introduces a new iteration of Hatsune Miku. In the story, Miku encounters characters from Project Sekai and embarks on a journey of growth. The film’s official synopsis reveals:
“Tell me more… about you. Maybe then… I will know how to sing.”
The plot follows Ichika Hoshino, who discovers an unfamiliar song by Miku while at a music store. She notices a mysterious image of Miku on a TV screen, but Miku vanishes upon hearing Ichika’s voice. Later, Miku reappears on Ichika’s smartphone, expressing frustration over her inability to reach her intended audience with her songs.
Inspired by Ichika’s ability to touch people’s hearts with her music, Miku seeks to learn from Ichika in hopes of achieving the same connection. Ichika agrees to assist, and together they embark on a new journey.
