by Barbara

Nicole Scherzinger has officially exited her role as a judge on The Masked Singer, a position she was unable to fill last season due to her involvement in a theatrical production. The singer and actress will not return for the upcoming season, as she is set to embark on a new journey in the world of Broadway.

Scherzinger has announced her participation in a new reality competition show, but her major focus now is her debut in the Broadway musical Sunset Boulevard. Recently, Scherzinger spoke candidly about her feelings of being “discarded” by the entertainment industry, which she relates to her upcoming role.

The former Pussycat Dolls frontwoman will take on the iconic role of Norma Desmond in Sunset Boulevard. This role, previously portrayed by Gloria Swanson in the acclaimed Billy Wilder film, tells the story of a faded silent film star seeking a comeback in Hollywood. Scherzinger’s portrayal of Desmond marks her transition from the London stage to Broadway, fulfilling a lifelong ambition.

In her talk with director Andrew Lloyd Webber, Scherzinger expressed her excitement about making her Broadway debut. “It’s always been my lifelong dream to go to Broadway,” Scherzinger revealed. “Can you believe I’ve never been to Broadway? I always say I’m the greatest thing to never happen to Broadway.”

Scherzinger, who is 46, described her current phase in life as a time of peak strength and emotional resilience. “I’m in my prime,” she said. “There is no better time for me to create work that is meaningful in this world. You’re so fully, have so much to give, and people have discarded you, and dismissed you and said ‘Your time’s up.’”

Sunset Boulevard, composed by Andrew Lloyd Webber, begins performances at the St. James Theatre in New York City on September 28, with the official opening scheduled for October 20. The musical, inspired by the film, delves into themes of romance and tragedy as Desmond attempts to reclaim her former glory.

As Nicole Scherzinger steps into this challenging role, she will be collaborating with Webber, whose impressive resume includes an Oscar, four Grammys, an Emmy, and seven Tonys, including a Lifetime Achievement Award.
