Quentin Tarantino has expressed a firm disinterest in continuing with the Toy Story franchise beyond its original trilogy. During an appearance on the Club Random podcast with Bill Maher, Tarantino praised the Toy Story trilogy for its storytelling but criticized the notion of extending it further. He likened the trilogy’s success to that of the “Dollars Trilogy” by Sergio Leone, which he believes achieved an unmatched level of cohesion and narrative progression.
Tarantino described Toy Story 3 as “one of the best movies I’ve ever seen” and expressed his satisfaction with how it concluded, dismissing the need to view Toy Story 4. Despite his sentiments, Disney is moving forward with Toy Story 5, slated for release on June 19, 2026, with Andrew Stanton returning as director.
