At Fan Expo Canada, Simu Liu, star of “Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings,” expressed his desire for Michelle Yeoh to reprise her role in the forthcoming sequel. During a panel discussion, Liu highlighted Yeoh’s significant impact on the first film and his hope that she will return for the next installment.
Liu praised Yeoh’s contribution to the film, recalling their on-screen fight scenes as a “dance fight” due to her graceful and Tai Chi-inspired movements. He humorously described his own performance as “clumsy” compared to Yeoh’s elegance. Liu also spoke highly of Yeoh as a person, noting her exceptional ability to guide and inspire him during their scenes together.
Although “Shang-Chi 2” is not yet officially announced, Liu has frequently addressed the sequel in public appearances, including on “The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon.” He confirmed that while details remain under wraps, Marvel Studios is actively working on the project. Liu assured fans that their enthusiasm for the original film is deeply appreciated and that both he and returning director Destin Daniel Cretton are excited about continuing the story.
The sequel’s timeline placement within the Marvel Cinematic Universe is still uncertain, with fans speculating it might occur between “Avengers: Doomsday” and “Avengers: Secret Wars.” Liu’s comments reflect a strong fan interest and anticipation for the next chapter of Shang-Chi’s journey.
