by Barbara

Le Bons Clients has unveiled a promotional trailer for “Miyazaki, Spirit of Nature,” a new documentary exploring Hayao Miyazaki’s deep connection with nature. Directed by French filmmaker Leo Favier, this film, originally titled “Miyazaki, L’Esprit de la Nature,” is set to premiere at the 2024 Venice Film Festival’s Venice Classics section. The documentary is heralded as the first to delve into Miyazaki’s environmental themes and his passion for nature, featuring archival footage, interviews, and conversations. It highlights Miyazaki’s autobiographical approach to filmmaking and his reflection on global ecological issues.

The film benefits from exclusive access to Studio Ghibli’s archives and includes insights from Miyazaki’s family and colleagues. Produced by Les Bons Clients and ARTE France Tag Film, “Miyazaki, Spirit of Nature” marks Favier’s first feature following his work on television series and short films. The film’s general release date has yet to be announced.
