Amazon Prime Video is expanding its “Reacher” universe with a new spinoff series. The forthcoming series will be penned by Nick Santora, who developed the original “Reacher” show and serves as executive producer and showrunner, alongside co-writer Nicholas Wooton.
While specific plot details for the spinoff remain undisclosed, sources indicate it will center on Frances Neagley, a character portrayed by Maria Sten in the main series. Amazon representatives have yet to comment on the development.
The decision to create additional content in the “Reacher” franchise follows the significant success of the current series, which stars Alan Ritchson as Jack Reacher. The series, adapted from Lee Child’s novels, was renewed for a third season before the second season even premiered. The second season, which debuted on December 15, 2023, quickly became the top title on Prime Video globally across both series and movies. It saw a 50% increase in global viewership within the first three days of its release and ranked second on Nielsen’s top 10 streaming charts.
The upcoming third season will adapt Child’s novel “Persuader,” the seventh book in the Jack Reacher series. The season’s official logline teases, “Reacher must go undercover to rescue an informant held by a haunting foe from his past.” Returning for the third season alongside Sten are new cast members Anthony Michael Hall, Sonya Cassidy, Johnny Berchtold, Brian Tee, Roberto Montesinos, and Daniel David Stewart.
Lee Child remains an executive producer for the series, joined by Don Granger, Scott Sullivan, Mick Betancourt, David Ellison, Dana Goldberg, and Matt Thunell for Skydance Television. The series is produced by Amazon Studios, Skydance, and CBS Studios (formerly Paramount Television Studios), with Carolyn Harris and Kenny Madrid overseeing the project for Skydance Television. Ritchson will also step into an executive producer role starting with Season 3.
