Netflix has officially greenlit an animated series adaptation of Stephanie Meyer’s Twilight saga. This new project will be based on Meyer’s 2020 novel Midnight Sun, which offers a fresh take on the original Twilight story by recounting events from the perspective of Edward Cullen, rather than Bella Swan.
Stephanie Meyer will serve as an executive producer for the series, alongside Sinead Daly, known for her work on The Walking Dead: World Beyond and Raised by Wolves, who will also take on executive producer duties. Other executive producers include Erik Feig, Samie Kim Falvey, Meghan Hibbett, Wyck Godfrey, and Marty Bowen.
The Twilight series, which includes the novels Twilight, New Moon, Eclipse, and Breaking Dawn, was previously adapted into a highly successful film franchise. The movies, starring Kristen Stewart, Robert Pattinson, and Taylor Lautner, were released between 2008 and 2012 and collectively earned over $3 billion at the global box office.
As of now, it has not been announced whether Stewart, Pattinson, or Lautner will voice their iconic characters in the new animated adaptation.
