The film, written and directed by Celine Held and Logan George, is a production of New Line Cinema. It centers on the mysterious disappearance of an 8-year-old girl at Caddo Lake, which triggers a series of unsettling revelations linking past deaths and disappearances, ultimately reshaping a fractured family’s history.

Shyamalan is producing the film through his Blinding Edge Pictures, with Ashwin Rajan, Kara Durrett, and Josh Godfrey also serving as producers. Kimberly Steward, Harrison Huffman, and Will Greenfield are executive producers.

The idea for “Caddo Lake” emerged when Held and George discovered a photograph of the real Caddo Lake online. This led them to several visits to the cypress forest straddling the Texas-Louisiana border. Principal photography took place in and around Karnak, Texas, in late 2021 and 2022.

Shyamalan praised Held and George, noting their previous work on the series “Servant,” where they directed two standout episodes in its third season. “The show ‘Servant’ has given me the incredible opportunity to find new storytellers from around the world and collaborate with them,” Shyamalan stated. “Celine Held and Logan George are an exceptional writing/directing team. Their unique approach to storytelling has culminated in a film that we believe will deeply resonate with audiences.”
