Netflix has released the first trailer for its upcoming docuseries, “Mr. McMahon,” which delves into the complex career of Vince McMahon, the former chairman and CEO of WWE.
The trailer features a range of interviews with WWE legends, including Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson, Hulk Hogan, Stone Cold Steve Austin, John Cena, and Paul “Triple H” Levesque. It also includes extensive interviews with McMahon himself, providing a comprehensive look at his career.
“Mr. McMahon” will explore McMahon’s significant achievements, such as his transformation of WWE from a regional wrestling operation into a global entertainment empire. The series will also address the numerous scandals that emerged during his leadership.
The six-part docuseries, set to premiere on September 25, is directed and executive produced by Chris Smith, known for “Tiger King.” Bill Simmons, best known for ESPN’s “30 for 30,” and Zara Duffy also serve as executive producers. The series is produced by Library Films in association with Ringer Films.
The series provides an in-depth examination of McMahon’s rise and fall, including his resignation following allegations of sexual misconduct, his brief return to WWE in early 2023 to negotiate its sale, and his subsequent resignation from the TKO Group board of directors after facing new legal challenges.
The official synopsis describes the series as a thorough exploration of McMahon’s controversial career, featuring over 200 hours of interviews with McMahon, his family, business associates, and wrestling icons, along with journalists who reported on the allegations against him.
The docuseries promises a candid and unflinching portrayal of one of the most influential figures in sports entertainment history.
