Rwanda’s television landscape has welcomed a new addition with the debut of “Kaliza Wa Kalisa,” a series now airing on Zacu TV. This fresh offering is an adaptation of Zee Entertainment’s Indian show “Kareena Kareena,” representing a significant shift from traditional Rwandan TV formats.
The series, produced by Wilson Misago—known for his work on hits like “Seburikoko,” “Inshuti-Friends,” and “Shuwa Dilu”—brings a new dimension to local television. It follows the life of Kaliza, a young woman navigating the challenges of Kigali with wit and charm. Divine Gatesi Kayonga, renowned for her roles in “The Bishop’s Family,” “Maya,” and “Behind,” portrays Kaliza, showcasing her dynamic acting abilities and dedication.
Directed by Roger Niyoyita, the series is noted for its vibrant visual style. Niyoyita’s direction features dynamic camera work and soft, playful lighting that underscore the show’s lighthearted tone. This approach aims to engage viewers with relatable character struggles and humor, enhancing the series’ appeal.
Misago emphasized that “Kaliza Wa Kalisa” stands out due to its high production quality. The production team has utilized advanced equipment and collaborated with skilled technicians to elevate the show’s visual and aesthetic standards. Despite the challenges of adapting to a new acting style, the cast has delivered commendable performances.
“Early feedback has been very positive,” Misago reported. “Viewers have connected with Kaliza’s character and appreciated the show’s fresh approach and high production values. Our goal is to entertain and uplift audiences by reflecting relatable moments in everyday life.”
While the future trajectory of the series remains confidential to maintain viewer interest, Misago assured that “Kaliza Wa Kalisa” is set to continue captivating its audience. The series promises to be a refreshing addition to Rwanda’s entertainment offerings.
