The highly anticipated Harry Potter TV series will not debut on HBO and MAX until late 2026 or early 2027, according to HBO CEO Casey Bloys. Following the 2024 Emmys on September 15, Bloys confirmed that while casting is underway, the series is still in the early stages of production.
Earlier this year, Bloys had already hinted at a 2026 release, and the current production timeline suggests the series will not be ready until late 2026 or early 2027. Bloys emphasized that it’s too early to discuss specific air dates as the writing process is just beginning.
When questioned about the filming schedule, Bloys did not provide concrete details, casting doubt on rumors of a March 2025 production start. He clarified that while there is speculation about the age of young actors, it does not necessarily align with the production timeline.
For the series to meet its projected release window, filming would need to commence by next spring or summer. Despite the extended wait, Bloys expressed strong confidence in Francesca Gardiner, the showrunner and executive producer, and Mark Mylod, who will direct and serve as an executive producer.
As the creative team works on developing the episodes and casting key roles, including Harry Potter, Ron Weasley, and Hermione Granger, fans will need to remain patient.
