Robert Pattinson will once again defy fate in his upcoming film, Mickey 17, directed by acclaimed filmmaker Bong Joon Ho. Known for his Oscar-winning work on Parasite and Snowpiercer, Bong Joon Ho brings a new cinematic vision to the screen with this adaptation.

The first trailer for Mickey 17 was unveiled on September 17, 2024, featuring Pattinson, 38, in a dramatic scene where a character ominously says, “It was nice knowing ya. Have a nice death. See ya tomorrow.”

The film, based on Edward Ashton’s 2022 novel Mickey 7, also features a star-studded cast including Steven Yeun, Naomi Ackie, Toni Collette, and Mark Ruffalo. Originally slated for a March 29, 2024, release, Mickey 17 will now hit theaters on January 31, 2025.

“I’ve been a huge fan of Bong for many, many years; he’s my hero,” Pattinson said at the event. “When I received the script, I was told, ‘You’re going to love the script, but the part is impossible.’ That was incredibly exciting to me. I thought it was the most unusual, bizarre, funny script.”

The actor, best known for his role in The Batman, revealed his excitement about portraying “two very fun characters.” He described his role as Mickey 17, a character with “the lowest expectations of his life,” whose job becomes increasingly torturous. Pattinson noted that the role involves significant transformation, including the character’s progression to Mickey 18, who suffers from frontal lobe damage and uncontrollable behavior.

Mickey 17 promises to deliver a unique and engaging experience, set to debut in theaters on January 31, 2025.
