DreamWorks Animation, known for hits like Shrek and Kung Fu Panda, is bringing the popular children’s book series Dog Man to the big screen. The film, slated for release on January 31, 2025, follows the success of DreamWorks’ adaptation of Dav Pilkey’s Captain Underpants, from which Dog Man originated as a spin-off character.
The official trailer for Dog Man was released on Tuesday, giving fans a first look at the film’s canine detective. The character was conceived from an unusual premise where a police officer and his dog are fused together in surgery, creating a unique hero.
The film features a diverse cast, including Pete Davidson as the villain Petey the Cat, Lil Rel Howery as the Chief, Isla Fisher as TV reporter Sarah Hatoff, and Ricky Gervais as Flippy the fish. The plot centers on Dog Man’s struggle against Petey’s evil plans, including cloning himself to create the kitten Lil Petey. When Lil Petey is captured, Dog Man and Petey must join forces to save him, discovering the value of family and unexpected alliances.
