Sharon Horgan, co-creator and star of the acclaimed series “Bad Sisters,” has been cast as a series regular in Hulu’s upcoming limited series “Amanda.” In this role, Horgan will portray Edda Mellas, the mother of Amanda Knox, who is played by Grace Van Patten.
The series delves into the harrowing true story of Amanda Knox, who was wrongfully convicted of murdering her roommate, Meredith Kercher. It chronicles her tumultuous 16-year journey to prove her innocence.
Horgan’s character, Edda Mellas, is depicted as a desperate yet hopeful mother whose close bond with her daughter is tested by Amanda’s imprisonment. Edda’s unwavering love and determination become crucial as she fights for Amanda’s freedom.
“Amanda” is created by KJ Steinberg and produced by 20th Television in collaboration with The Littlefield Company. Executive producers include Steinberg, Warren Littlefield, Lisa Harrison, Ann Johnson, and Graham Littlefield of The Littlefield Company, along with Monica Lewinsky from Alt Ending Productions, and Amanda Knox and Chris Robinson from Knox Robinson Productions.
Sharon Horgan is known for her work on series such as “Pulling,” “Catastrophe,” and “Bad Sisters,” which is currently preparing for its second season on Apple TV+.
