Netflix has released the highly anticipated trailer for its inaugural Filipino zombie film, “Outside,” directed by Carlos Ledesma and starring Sid Lucero, Beauty Gonzalez, Marco Masa, and Joel Torre. The trailer debuted on September 21 and centers on Francis, a troubled father, who, along with his family, seeks refuge in an abandoned farmhouse amidst a zombie outbreak.
The nearly two-minute trailer opens with a haunting lullaby paired with unsettling visuals, including a rundown car marked by a bloody handprint. Viewers have reacted positively, with one Facebook user noting, “Something to look forward to, not a typical Filipino horror film.” Others praised the film’s cinematography, drawing comparisons to critically acclaimed titles such as “A Quiet Place” and “The Shining.”
Despite the enthusiasm, some fans expressed skepticism, recalling previous local horror films that failed to meet expectations. “I hope I’m wrong for this,” one X user remarked. Beauty Gonzalez described “Outside” as a love letter to horror aficionados and her hometown of Negros Occidental, aiming to disturb and entertain audiences. Ledesma emphasized that the film reflects personal experiences, stating, “At its core, it’s a film about a family’s survival.” “Outside” is set to premiere globally on Netflix on October 17.
