Despite Apple’s decision to forgo a wide theatrical release, the film Wolfs has quickly become a phenomenon among Apple TV+ subscribers. The company announced that Wolfs has achieved the title of “most viewed movie in Apple TV+ history,” significantly boosting overall viewing numbers on the platform.
A New Approach to Film Releases
Wolfs marks a significant milestone for Apple TV+, showcasing the star power of George Clooney and Brad Pitt, with Jon Watts—known for directing the Spider-Man trilogy in the Marvel Cinematic Universe—at the helm. Unlike prior films such as Killers of the Flower Moon, which enjoyed full theatrical runs before transitioning to streaming, Wolfs debuted directly on Apple TV+, allowing it to capture immediate attention.
According to Mike Fleming Jr. from Deadline, the film resulted in a nearly 30% increase in viewership week over week. It launched globally in over 100 countries, generating substantial spikes in viewership across the U.S., UK, Canada, Australia, Italy, Mexico, Brazil, and Germany.
While it remains unclear if Wolfs has surpassed all other Apple TV+ films in total views, it is likely that it achieved the highest launch performance to date. Regardless, the film’s success indicates that Apple’s revised strategy for film releases is proving effective.
