NEON is set to bring horror fans a chilling new film titled The Monkey, an adaptation of a Stephen King story, in collaboration with director Osgood Perkins, known for his work on Longlegs. The film boasts an impressive cast, including Theo James (The White Lotus), Tatiana Maslany (She-Hulk: Attorney at Law), Elijah Wood (The Lord of the Rings), Christian Convery (Sweet Tooth), Colin O’Brien (Wonka), Rohan Campbell (The Hardy Boys), and Sarah Levy (Schitt’s Creek). The project is produced by renowned filmmaker James Wan.
A new poster for The Monkey was released today, teasing fans with a cheeky tagline. In addition to the poster, a new trailer is set to debut next week, following the unsettling first teaser released earlier this year.
Plot Overview
The Monkey centers around twin brothers Hal and Bill, who discover their father’s old monkey toy in the attic. Following this discovery, a series of gruesome deaths begin to unfold around them. In a bid to escape the horror, the brothers decide to discard the monkey and go their separate ways. However, as mysterious deaths resurface, they are compelled to reunite and find a way to destroy the cursed toy before it claims more lives of those they hold dear.
With Perkins’ recent success from Longlegs, The Monkey is positioned to be a breakout hit for the winter season. NEON continues to make waves in the horror genre, and this film is sure to add to their growing reputation.
The Monkey is scheduled for theatrical release on February 21, 2025.
