by Barbara

The highly anticipated Filipino film Hello, Love, Again, a sequel to the 2019 box office sensation Hello, Love, Goodbye, is scheduled to hit theaters across the United States and Canada on November 15.

Originally, Hello, Love, Goodbye held the title of the Philippines’ highest-grossing film until it was recently surpassed by Rewind, which amassed nearly $17 million at the global box office earlier this year.

Hello, Love, Again will open in 200 to 250 theaters, marking it as the most extensive North American release for a Filipino film to date, according to the North American distributor, Abramorama.

Directed by Cathy Garcia-Sampana, the sequel sees the return of popular actors Kathryn Bernardo and Alden Richards in their original roles. This film also represents a significant milestone in the Philippine film industry, as it features a collaboration between long-time rivals ABS-CBN’s Star Cinema and GMA Network’s GMA Pictures. Though the parent companies, ABS-CBN and GMA, have partnered on various television series in the past, this is their first joint venture in film production.

Set five years after Joy (portrayed by Bernardo) bid farewell to Ethan (played by Richards) in Hong Kong to chase her dreams in Canada, Hello, Love, Again explores the couple’s journey as they reunite in Canada. Despite their enduring love, they discover that time and distance have profoundly altered their identities. As they navigate the complexities of their transformed lives, they seek to reconnect and redefine their romance.

The screenplay for Hello, Love, Again was crafted by Carmi Raymundo and Crystal S. San Miguel, based on a story by Raymundo, San Miguel, and Olivia Lamasan. The film is produced by Kookai Labayen, with executive producers Kriz Gazmen, Anette Gozon, and Carlo Katigbak.

Kriz Gazmen, head of ABS-CBN Films, expressed excitement about collaborating with Abramorama to bring Hello, Love, Again to North American audiences. “This film presents a unique opportunity to resonate with diverse audiences through its themes of cultural pride, love, and personal growth. This is the homecoming audiences deserve, and there is genuine enthusiasm surrounding how Joy and Ethan will conclude their epic story,” he stated.

Evan Saxon, President and Head of International Distribution at Abramorama, echoed this sentiment, stating, “Our team is thrilled to work with ABS-CBN Films to present Hello, Love, Again to North American viewers. This release provides an excellent opportunity for cinema partners to engage multicultural audiences as they seek a more diverse array of films for their patrons.”
