Angel Studios, known for its film Sound of Freedom, is finalizing the cast for its upcoming TV series Homestead, which is a continuation of the yet-to-be-released film of the same name. The series will feature notable actors such as Charles Esten (Outer Banks, Nashville), Jill Wagner (Lioness, Braven), and Sam Page (Mad Men, House of Cards), joining the already announced Neal McDonough, Bailey Chase, and Dawn Olivieri.
Homestead is set in a post-apocalyptic world, focusing on a community living in a doomsday compound. The series is based on the bestselling Black Autumn book series by Jeff Kirkham and Jason Ross, and explores the survival of a family after a global catastrophe. Chase and Olivieri, who star in the film, will also reprise their roles in the television adaptation.
Plot and Setting
Described as a combination of The Last of Us and SEAL Team, Homestead portrays the collapse of civilization through the experiences of two families: a wealthy, ultra-prepared family and a military veteran family they’ve hired for security. As the world outside becomes increasingly dangerous, tensions rise within the compound, and the possibility of divine intervention becomes part of the story’s core.
New Cast Members
Charles Esten will play Cain Ross, a rugged and commanding figure. Cain, the brother of Ian Ross, arrives at Homestead in response to a call for help but struggles to adapt to the community’s life-by-committee governance, as his lone wolf personality creates tension.
Jill Wagner takes on the role of Jacq Reynolds, a pregnant therapist in her third trimester. Jacq finds herself at the heart of Homestead’s inner circle, helping survivors process their trauma, while grappling with the unexpected religious fervor that has gripped many of them.
Sam Page will portray Tom Reynolds, Jacq’s husband and a skilled engineer. Tom, invited to Homestead by his college roommate Ian Ross, quickly integrates into the society’s ranks. Having escaped a conflict-ridden Texas, Tom is relieved to find temporary peace, though he knows it may not last.
Production and Launch
Homestead is produced by Angel Studios in collaboration with 10ton, Skies Fall Entertainment, 2521, and Radiate Pictures. Jason Ross, co-author of Black Autumn, will serve as the showrunner alongside Ben Kasica, founder of Skies Fall Entertainment.
The series will premiere exclusively on the Angel Studios platform, continuing to build on the studio’s success in bringing compelling and faith-driven narratives to audiences.
