The official poster for the upcoming biographical film “Maria” has been released, featuring Angelina Jolie as the lead actress, renowned soprano Maria Callas. Jolie is depicted in a black and white dress with an elegant updo, exuding a powerful aura.
Directed by Pablo Larraín, “Maria” is the final installment in a trilogy of biographical films centered around iconic women in history, following “Jackie” and “Spencer.” The story takes place in 1970s Paris and chronicles the tumultuous life of Greek-American soprano Maria Callas, including her career resurgence, the loss of loved ones, and her eventual decline.
After its premiere at the 81st Venice Film Festival, Jolie’s performance in the film has been praised by critics, with some calling it the best of her career and a potential contender for the Best Actress Oscar. However, the attention has also turned to Jolie’s reported new romance.
Jolie is currently in a relationship with 40-year-old British rapper Akala. The rumors began after Jolie was spotted spending three days and two nights with Akala at a London hotel during the promotion of “Maria.” Jolie reportedly sent Akala away in a car before the premiere, and he later appeared alone at the London screening. The report states that the two have been on several dates in London, and Akala even accompanied Jolie to the Venice Film Festival last month. However, TMZ has denied the rumors, stating that the two are just friends and that Akala has a girlfriend. Both parties have yet to comment on the matter.
“Maria” is set to be released in North America on November 27 and will exclusively stream on Netflix starting December 11.
