The official poster for the film “Snow Flower,” directed by Yoichi Koizumi (“Ran,” “Dreams,” “The Last Samurai”), has been released along with three stills.
The movie, starring Matsuzaka Tori, Yoshine Kyoko, and Yakusho Koji, is based on a novel of the same name and is set in the late Edo period in Japan. It tells the true story of a folk doctor fighting against the infectious disease smallpox. The film is set to premiere at the Tokyo International Film Festival in October 2024 and will be released in Japan on January 24, 2025. The plot revolves around three unknown soldiers who attempt to save Japan from the smallpox epidemic.
