Stephen King’s famous horror novel “Carrie” is set to be adapted into an eight-episode TV series by writer and producer Mike Flanagan. The project is currently in the scripting phase. Flanagan has previously adapted several of King’s works, including “Doctor Sleep” and “Gerald’s Game.”
The original novel tells the story of Carrie White, a shy and introverted girl who is bullied by her classmates due to her strange behavior and her mother’s obsession with religion. After a humiliating incident at her prom, Carrie unleashes her hidden powers as a witch and wreaks havoc on the entire town.
“Carrie” has been adapted several times before, most notably in the 1976 film directed by Brian De Palma and starring Sissy Spacek. Other adaptations include the 2002 TV movie directed by David Carson and the 2013 film directed by Kimberly Peirce. Fans of the book will be eagerly anticipating this latest adaptation of King’s classic tale of horror.
